Itinerary

Day one of the symposium offers a space for papers to begin discussion, followed by a roundtable to discuss the converging interests of writing, games, and play.

Day two provides an opportunity for academic, literary, and game design communities to collaborate and produce a video game from material synthesised from academic, literary, and game design sources. Our goal is to start a conversation between academics and industry, and out of this conversation begin to create tangible products that explore the convergence of video game and literary writing.

As an experimental creative exercise, day two does not seek to create AAA games – Skyrim this is not. Instead, our creations will blur the lines between literary and video game, being equally inspired by both literary and video game practices. As such, they represent the fault line that this symposium hopes to uncover and discuss.
